Kostas Makrygiannis was born in Thessaloniki, where he lives and works to this day. He studied Painting at the Department of Visual and Applied Arts of the School of Fine Arts of the Aristotle University of Thessaloniki, with professor Dimitris Zouroudis.

In the work of Kostas Makrygiannis, the emphasis is on geometric shapes, which sometimes with chromatic ellipses and sometimes with fills, outline various outlines in shades of gray that dominate the color field.

The whites, the blues and the earthy tones which are sometimes scattered, functioning as autonomous elements that embellish the monochromatic gray.

Other times they are concentrated at specific points on the painting, in an absolute geometric arrangement, forming new geometric patterns which acquire a new substance.

The use of lines with acrylic markers highlights the color in selected forms. By placing the line differently in other forms it creates distortion and weakening. Thus they interact with each other in a relationship of solidarity and mutual feeding.
